Hi, I browsed the censuses for 1910-1930 and came up with a lot of info. I'm not sure if you have found any of this or not. The family was relatively easy to track- they lived at the same address! Why can't MY family stay in one place? The census from 1910 shows that both Otto and Auguste were born in Germany, immigrating 189how varying immigration dates, but always in the early 1890's. Otto and Auguste were naturalized in 1912. In the 1910 census, they had 2 boys; Kurt and Otto. Kurt was born about 1901, Otto was born about 1908 .By 1920, only Kurt was at home. The 1930 census shows Kurt was a Lawyer, Otto was a Postal Clerk. Census data can be found at ED 1770, page 80 for 1930, ED 1565, Page 96B for 1920, and ED 139, Page 264B for 1910. The address for all was 3912 Janssen Ave. Ironic? For 1900, I did find a listing for a Teut????, but that image was horribe. I did manage to see that there were 2 daughters in the family, so this is probably the William Teuthorn family. I tried all 3 available census subscriptions, but none had a readable image. If you really want this, you'll probably have to check out NARA's copy. ED 132, page 1. Cyberdriveillinois shows that Otto died 11/7/1935, Auguste died 11/18/1937. For more info on them see www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/archives A Marie Teuthorn and a William Teuthorn are listed also. From that site you can also search the marriage index. I did not find an IL listing for Otto or Auguste. I just searched quickly, though, and I only searched Janssen and Teuthorn. You might find them if you search using only 2 letters, and looking for misspellings. Unfortunately, the index for deaths prior to 1916 is not fully online yet. The index can be found thru your local LDS. It is my guess that Otto Jr. will be on that death index. Birth cert numbers for the boys can also be found on LDS films/fiche or you can ask Alice Fluegge to search for you See her site at www.alicefluegge.com. She may also be able to find birth cert numbers for you if you can't get to LDS to search yourself. Molly Kennedy can get the actual death certs for deaths 1916-1950. From those you should be able to get parent names. Molly can be reached at www.mollx.com Newsbank Infoweb had 2 obits listed. Kurt died 8/21/1974. His wife, Helen Manson Teuthorn died 2/16/1978. From the obits it was learned that Kurt and Marie had 3 children: Robert, James and Margaret. Robert married Edith, James married Diane, and Margaret married Robert Swarm. Among them they had 18 children; their kids had 2.The site is http://infoweb2.newsbank.com This will give you a wide variety of choices. For newer obits, select the top listing, "America's obits". You can then select a state, or run a nationwide search. If you select IL, you will be given several more options., one of which is the Tribune historical archives. Be careful, though. America's obits limits to 200 entries. If you are searching a common name, 200 entries won't get you back far enough. You have to use additional criteria in your search. I usually use a combo of both. You can also select HA, which is the Tribune Historical Archives. Always make sure you select "more options" This will let you search by decades. I also use it as search criteria entering a maiden name with a married name to provide an additional filter. Last of all, the only directory listing I found for Otto was 1917, at the Janssen Ave address. He is listed as a bartender. Maybe that building had a bar in it. You can check with the Cook County Assessor's office for that record. See the Cook List archives for instructions as to how to print the pictures of the building, if a pic is available. It's a pretty good site. I hope this helps you fill in some missing pieces. Good Luck in your continued searches. Cheryl [2003-09-25] Curious, whether there may be answers to questions like that: Auguste JANSSEN of German origin married Otto Teuthorn in Chicago 1896. Birthdate unknown, but probably about 1870, born possibly in Chicago. Lived at North Side. I4m looking for more details, especially, who were her ancestors. Is there a genealogical society in Chic. which will be better prepared to answer questions like that, respectively are there other mailing lists more convenient to genealogical questions?  Census 1910: Otto sei 1893 eingewandert, Auguste 1892.
