D. informs us that the Marion Coon family, though prospering, has been having some ill luck lately. Mrs. Marion Coon broke her leg just above the ankle the latter part of September and is at present just getting well enough to be around some. The letter states there is scarcely any homestead land left in that vicinity. When they went there a few years age there was nothing but raw prairie for miles, not even a house to break the monotony. One could ride twenty miles in a straight line in every direction. Now the land is all occupied, houses dot the prairies in every direction and the fences compel a traveller to go by squares the same as in Iowa. Land has risen rapidly in value and the family is prospering. ************************************** Marion was a stone mason by trade and built the Episcopal Church in Linton as well as working on several other buildings in town. The Episcopal church is now the Linton Historical Center.
