Notes for this person
BARNES, Philip Darcy Born June 1, 1929, he passed away on September 29, 2006, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease, with his loving wife Margaret by his side. Born in Michigan, the son of Darcy and Eunice Barnes, at an early age he moved to California, where he has lived most of his life. Philip retired from the California Department of Transportation after 35 years of service. He also served in the U.S. Air Force. He loved watching sports on TV (golf, baseball and football), and was a loyal San Francisco Giants fan. He loved traveling and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Margaret, and his sister Susan Roberti. He is also survived by son Mark, and daughter Catherine from a previous marriage. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Arrangements made by Chapel of the Valley, Citrus Heights. Per Philip's wishes, no services will be held. Cremated remains will be held at Chapel of the Valley until the National Military Cemetery in Dixon is completed, hopefully later on this year. At that time, a military funeral will be held. Philip will be missed by all who loved and knew him. Donations may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 530 Bercut Drive, Suite A, Sacramento CA, 95814. Sacramento Bee
