From Moyer's manuscript and other printed histories that all agree Bachelor's Run was the first Church of Brethren in Carroll Co., IN. The congregation was organized by Peter Eyman in 1829. He became the first minister and leading elder until about 1848. The congregation split and the new group with Peter Replogle as minister started Deer Creek congregation. The Bachelor Run congregation called their group the Church of God. They were known as the new Dunkers. A storypassed down through several generations of our family was that grandfather Eyman started the first COB in Carroll County.

From History of the Church of the Brethren in Indiana by Otho Winger, there is no account of the exact date of the organization, but it was likely in 1830. For in that year, an old record says, Elder Jacob Brower and Brother Garber of Ohio, came to the Wild Cat territory and held an election. It seems altogether likely that at this time Bachelor Run of Deer Creek, as it was then called, was organized and Peter Eyman was ordained elder.

1838: Trouble between Peter Eyman and Peter Replogle resulted in a division of church territory, which was the area near where Camden, IN, now stands. The area of this congregation took in most of Carroll Co and part of

White and Howard Cos IN. Peter Replogle stayed with the Bachelor Run (Deer Creek) congregation, which celebrated its 150th year of worship in1978.
