NOTE:"The Belle Plaine Union" 9 April 1952 Keystone - William Eggers, 76 passed away at his home Friday afternoon following a lingering illness the past year. He was born in June 1 1875, in Kane Township. On March 11, 1903, he was married to Emma Junge in the home of her parents. The couple farmed in Kane township until 1914, when they moved to Keystone were Mr. Eggers engaged in the implement business until 1930, when he opened the Eggers' Cafe. In 1946 he turned the business over to his son Benn the present owner. Mr. Eggers was a member of St. John's Lutheran church, taking an active part in anything connected with the church and serving as trustee for many years. During his business career, he served on the town council, the school board and Commercial club. He helped promote all civic affairs for the betterment of the community. Surviving are his wife and two sons, Bennie Eggers of Keystone and Raymond of Waterloo; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one brother John Eggers of Long Beach, California. Services were held Monday afternoon at 1:30, April 7, from St. John's Lutheran church with short services preceding in the home by his pastor the Rev. A. W. Brauer. Singers were: Harlan Meyer and Donald Oehlerich, with Mrs. Milo Offt, organist. Pallbearers were Herman Franzenburg, Henry Stein, Pete Scheel, Carlos Schenken, Alfred Bockholt and Philip Feuerbach. Burial was in the Keystone Cemetery.
