Kube William obituary in The Clare Sentinel, vol. 44, no. 22, Friday, 13 March 1936 Obituary William Kube William Kube was born in Posen, Germany in 1860, where he grew to manhood and learned the mason trade. In 1883 he was married to Julia Grafling of the same place. The four oldest children were born there. December of 1889 he came to America, going to Chicago where he found employment as a mason. In May 1890 his wife and family and mother came to join him there. After living there six years they came to Clare County in 1896, locating on a farm near Bertha Lake. A few years ago he moved to anotherr farm where he lived until last June. His wife preceded him in death about six years ago, and a son, William died in France in 1918. His granddaughter Marguerite kept house for him until last June when she married and moved to Mt. Pleasant. He ived in a cottage at Bertha Lake for the summer and in the fall he went to live with his son, Arthur, going to Flint with them when they moved there. He died at Arthur's home, February 27, 1936, at the age of 75 years, 11 months and 15 days. He leaves to mourn his death, three sons and six daughters; Oscar of Bertha Lake, Mrs. Geo. Billmeier, of Saginaw, Mrs. Otto Pietsch, of Detroit, Paul, of Mancelona, Mrs. Ervin Calkins and Mrs. C. Sprague, of Clare, Mrs. A. Lambertson of Lansing, Arthur, of Flint, and Mrs. H. Alexander of Detroit, 27 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. All the children attended the funeral but Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Billmeier, who are wintering in Florida. Six of his grandsons acted as pallbearers at the Funeral services held in the St. Johns Lutheran church at Clare on Sunday, Rev. Binhammer officiating. Interment was in the Farwell cemetery beside his wife and son.
