Details: Lovice M Becker Racine – Lovice n. Becker, 65, passed away unexpectedly at St. Mary’s Medical Center onWednesday, February 1, 2006. She was born in Kenosha ro William and Elise (nee: Schneider) Becker on May8, 1940, (her Father’s 28thBirthday), then lived in Racine as a small child before moving to Jackson, Mich. In 1942. She returned to Racine in 1963 with her parents and siblings. She attended Racine schools and graduated from Washington Park High School. In 1952, she earned a bachelor of arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and wasinducted into Phi Beta Kappa honor society. Later that year, she began a 33-year career at the Johnson Foundation, retiring in 1996. In retirement, she enjouyed reading, art, music, Quilting, knitting, gardening, politics, and travel, and was a longtime patron of the Lyric Opera in Chicago, Ill. Surviving are her brothers, William (Sharron St. John) Becker of Madison, Randall Becker of Racine, sister, Carol Becker Olson of Racine, nieces and nephews, Kira Olson (Nasser Hilel) of Racine and Dakhias Oasis Egypt, Adam Olson of Milwaukee, Dylon St. Steen, Gareth Becker, and Hilary St. John, all of Madison, and her grand-niece Sophia Hilel Olson of Racine. Also surviving are her friends, Jo South of Burlington, Gert Maresh, Nancy Bigge, both of Racine, Jackie and Al Sleeby of Caledonia. Mich., Chris and John Isbell of Cottonwood, Calif., and Loemay Lange of Sun City,Arit. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in law Ronald Olson. Friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial gathering from 5 until 7 p.m. (readings and remembrances at 6 p.m.) at St. Mary’s Chapel (west building- Taylor Hall) at DeKoven Center,500 – 21st Street, Racine, on Friday evening, February 3, 2006.
