Heinrich Friedrich Wilhelm KILIAN

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;" lang="EN-US">Heinrich K. * Nov 1864 attended school in Lutterberg until he was 14; then attended the Preparatory School for teaching, and the Stephansstift School at Hanover. He paid for his schooling with a small inheritance from his mother's side; however, it cost him very little as the minister's wife recognized his ability for teaching and was influential in sending him to these schools. He finished his preparatory course in three years, then went to Verden Seminary on the Aller Riverfor more study, or until he was 20 years of age. While at the Verden Seminary Heinrich ran out of funds. Prof. "Papa" Nack called him and asked if he wanted to continue his studies. His answer was affirmative, so the arrangement was made that Prof. Nack would loan him the money, and Heinrich would take out a life insurance policy in his favor until the debt was paid.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;" lang="EN-US">After Heinrich had passed the examination, the Government appointed him to a village teaching position at Dohnsen, by Bergen, where he taught from 1884 to 1890. He left Dohnsen in the spring of 1890 to go to Hamburg, where he taught in the city school on Repsold Street.</span></p>
