Johannes Custen war Müller in Mühlpfad (am Baybach). Er ist um 1660 aus Brabant zugewandert wie auch die Familie Rütt nach Pfalzfeld. In einem Güterverzeichnis von1664 unterzeichnet Johann Custen/ Joan Coster mit Christanier.Nach dem 30- jährigen Krieg war die Gegend fast menschenleer. Etwa 1650/51 rief der Landgraf Siedler aus Brabant herbei mit der Zusage, dass sie frei sind von der Leibeigenschaft.Johannes Custen ist in Mühlpfad ab 1663 belegt.
