Viola May Butterbaugh, age 89, passed away April 22, 2008.
Viola was born in Lincoln Township, Shelby County, Iowa, on April 25, 1918, to Carl B. and Ida B. Wolf Brockmann. She graduated from Harlan High, in 1936. Viola worked for Tip Top Manufacturing, for 19 years, retiring in 1980. Viola moved from Oakland, Iowa, in 1961, to Council Bluffs.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl B. Butterbaugh, in 1985; daughter-in-law, Sharon Butterbaugh; son-in-law, Harold Wheeldon; great granddaughter, Kye; parents; sister, Edith White; and brothers, Lyle and Bob Brockmann.
Viola is survived by daughters, Sharon Held and husband Randy, of LaVista, Neb., Donna Wheeldon; sons, Merle and wife Harlene, Gary and wife Kathy, all of Council Bluffs, Dale and wife Jane, of Centraila, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Bud Brockman and wife Ruth, of Fairfield Bay, Ark., Richard Brockmann and wife Karen, of Shelby, Iowa, Dewey Brockman and wife Carol, of Council Bluffs; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, 6-8 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Funeral services, Friday, 11 a.m., also at the funeral home. Reverend David Erickson, officiant. Interment, Ridgewood Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at First Christian Church, Highway 92 campus. Memorials to First Christian Church preferred.
