By: SUSAN BERO CROWN POINT - Joseph Almasy patterned his life on the religious beliefs he often shared with others. "Joe lived completely by the Bible, not just literally (speaking)," his wife, Lois, said. "He did not judge anybody. He was always kind and loving ...a true Christian." Mr. Almasy, 62, of Crown Point, died Aug. 8 at St. Margaret Mercy Healthcare Centers in Hammond. "Anyway Joe could, he helped people," his wife said. She said her husband never hesitated to help people in need or share his faith, as a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses. In his leisure, Mr. Almasy enjoyed golfing, gardening and also pursued his hobby as a avid train. He shared his fascination trains with family members, taking children and grandchildren to visit railroad yards, chat with engineers and photograph steam engines and railroad cars. "Family was so important to Joe," his wife said. "He was a terrific father and grandfather and a wonderful, warm husband." Mr. Almasy was a graduate of Clark High School in Hammond and Purdue University. He retired from Northern Indiana Public Service Co. in 1993 with 32 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Lois; two sons, Joseph (Charlotte) Almasy of Hammond and John (Patricia) Almasy of Munster; one daughter, Joy (Kevin) Foust of Crown Point; two granddaughters; and one brother. Services were Aug. 11 at the Burns-Kish Funeral Home in Munster with the Rev. Dennis McEllmury officiating. Interment took place at Memory Lane Cemetery, Schererville.
