Markovich was born on March 29, 1920 in Ely, MN to Joseph and Barbara Markovich. He was raised and attended school in Ely. He enjoyed the outdoors and all kinds of sports- hockey, swimming and golfing were his favorites. He served in the US Army until his honorable discharge in 1945. He met his future wife, Olga Walchuck in Minneapolis, MN and was married on November 25, 1950 in Minneapolis. They had five children. He started his career as a game warden for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife at the Game Farm outside of Forest Lake, MN for several years, then to Blackduck, MN for two years, then to Waskish for five years, then transferred to Warroad where he spent 38 years and later retired. He gave a lot of time to his job and tried to be fair in all his dealings with all sportsmen. Albert passed away on April 10, 2010 at his home in Roseau at the age of 90. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Joseph, John, Mary, Annie, Millie, Joan, Steve, Julius and Barie. Interment will be at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
