Chackan, 89 of Acme died Tuesday December 22, 2015 at his home. He was born March 24, 1926 in Acme a son of the late Vincent and Viola Palmer Chackan, Sr. Mr. Chackan was president and owner/operator of Chackan Sales, Inc. of Acme for 69 1/2 years. He was a veteran of the Navy serving during W.W. II and he was a member of the Acme United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife Wilma L. Houston Chackan; his children, daughters, Randie Chackan of New Stanton and Sandy Kinneer and her husband Lury of Acme; his sons, Lonnie Chackan and his wife Michelle of Ft. Lewis , VA. and Daryl Chackan and his wife Sharon of Laurelville; seven grandchildren including a special granddaughter Natessa Fox; four great grandchildren; three sisters, Elvira Kinneer and her husband Raymond of Acme, Wilda Coffman of Acme and Iva Kinneer of Acme and one brother Gay Chackan of Acme. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a daughter Sherry Knopsnyder; sisters, Thelma Shafer, Beatrice May and Lugene May and a brother Domer Chackan. Friends will be received from 2-4, 6-9 P.M. Sunday in the Clyde Brooks Funeral Home, Inc., corner of Municipal Building Road and Route 711, Melcroft where services will be held on Monday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Terry Trudgen officiating. Interment will follow in the Ligonier Valley Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded at the graveside.
