Emil Gebert is buried here Thursday.
Emil Gebert, who died at his home here last Monday afternoon, was buried at the Germantown Cemetery following services held from the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church here at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon the Rev. Martin Peters was in charge of the services. Emil Gebert was the son ofHenry Gebert and his wife, Maria nee Rosenberg, born in Cook County, Illinois on Sept. 20, 1870. There also he was baptized in early infancy.As a child, he came with his parents to this vicinity and settled on afarm.
On October 6, 1895, he was married to Bertha Lemke. Reverend Jacob Hornofficiated at the ceremony. Three sons and one daughter were born to them. Mr. and Mrs. Gebert made their home on a farm 6 miles west of Paullina until their retirement in 1925. Since that time they have lived inPaullina. During this time he was for many years an elder of the ZionLutheran Church.
A little over two years ago Mr. Gebert suffered a stroke from which hedid not recover. He was 78 years, eight months and 22 days old at the time of his death.
He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Henry Tillie Fiddelke, a son, Arthur, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Sophie Schroeder of Hampton and Mrs. Mary Elbers of Blue Island, Illinois.
Two sons preceded him in death.
Out-of-town relatives attending the funeral were J.C. Funk of Tinley Park, Illinois; Emil Elbers, of Blue Island, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. EmilRosenberg, Chandler, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schroeder, Latimer, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Grein and son, Wakefield, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. O.J. Strampe, Marcus; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Krom and Dorothy, Sioux City; Mrs. Marvin Puhrmann, Linn Grove, and Guy Borst, Worthington, Minnesota.
