Notizen zu dieser Person
A record in Ricmond dated 16 June 1845 shows that he bought property at Broad and Adams from Joseph and Caroline Meyer for $600.00. Other later deed records show purchases of adjoining lots. It is thought that Gaspard and Wilhelmina came to America in the early 1830's.
Gaspard was a "fine bootmaker". Records show that he had a shop on Broad and Adams Steets in Richmond from 1850 to 1859 when he moved to the Cedar Hill Farm on Harvie Road in Henrico County. There are other references in the Richmond Directories of that period: "Grocer and Shoemaker...North side of Broad and Adams. Tax records show he claimed one slave. He returned to France 3 times, perhaps to visit his parents. On one of the trips he bought back several beautiful silk shawls, one of which was left to Margaret Rose Sieg. (Notes MRS)
