Slagle, a veteran of the Civil War, died last evening atthe Slagle home, Von Lunen Road, Dale, aged 86 years. His death was dueto heart and kidney trouble. Funeral services will be held at the Slaglehome on Wednesday afternoon by J.L. Miller, of the 7th ward, with burialin Grandview Cemetary. F.K. Slagle was born in Germany on May 20, 1834, and came to America12 years latter. He settled in Jenners Cross Roads, Somerset County,where he enlisted in Company B, 148th Regiment, P.V.I., during the CivilWar. For sometime following the war Mr. Slagle was engaged in business atStantons Mills, Somerset County. Before coming to Johnstown 32 yearsago, he and Miss Mary Rose were married at Davidsville on March 18, 1858by Justice Peter Levy. Mrs. Slagle survives her husband, with these children: Lena, widowof J.J. Hoffman, who makes her home with her parents; W.N. Slagle ofSlagle Street; Elizabeth, wife of S.H. Stahl; Ella, wife of J.H.Replogle, and Harry G. Slagle of Wilmington, Delware. Mrs. Harry Thomas,a daughter died 18 years ago; and two sons who died in infancy. Mr.Slagle is survived by two sisters, a brother, 10 grandchildren, and 20great-grandchildren. Note - Stanton Mills is now under the Quemahoning Dam in Somerset County.
