Guess what? I got the marriage cert today from SLC for what I thought might be John Hardekopf and #1 bride! It is! Oh my gosh! John Hardekopf, age 28, father Claus, mother is (of course)! Emma Beckmann Bertha Ahlf, 24, (1906) father Claus and mother's last name is to faint to read! Auck! Dorothea Fa???? Witnesses to this marriage were: Claus Ahlf! & Henrietta Beckmann! On that 1930 Census I found, there is a 30 yr. old Claus Ahlf living with the Ahlf, Augusta family and he is age 30 and I "think" it says he is a relative, not sure. But, considering the age of Bertha Ahlf, I bet this Claus is her brother! I've tried Beckmann, Henrietta, 1920 Census, no luck. But, then again, she could have come to the US after that. By the 1930 she could have been married! I tried Ellis for H. Beckmann but was not successful there either. I am NOT discouraged though! This is a big, big lead! When I get to Salt Lake City I will view the actual cert and maybe I can make out the name of the mother of Bertha. This also tells me that John, who was supposed to have been married twice married Bertha in 1926, and on the 1930 he is living with this family but there is no wife, so it didn't work out. This means that I might be able to find his second marriage! Not that it will tell me much, it will confirm the Bible info and also tell me where he was living at the time. I could also ask a friend of mine to look for the license at the Archives in NYC and I might be able to find out the name of the church, since I have the Pastor's address and name! Wow! To come from nothing to all of this in a matter of a week! Wow... I'm such a happy camper! Do you know anything about a Bertha Ahlf who's parents are Claus and Dorothea Fa??????? So important Kent!
