I communicated with you some years back regarding the Ibe Ahlfs family and was looking at some of your notes in Ancestry.com. For John Jacob Ahlfs you questioned whether he was from Rathen Prussia or Petkum. Just to clarify I have copies of the original records from the Petkum church from the pastor there. He sent me copies of infor back to Ibe Aalfs who was married to Rentje Peters. There were not exact dates for the early entries, but the earliest date was for his third marriage which was to Trintje Michalts on May 15, 1748, so he would probably have been born in the eary 1720's or before (since Trintje was his third wife.) In any case you can be assured that he was from Petkum Aalfs Or Ahlfs possible spelling
