Whitner Richard Taylor was born in Cold Water, S.C. to Samuel,Jr. and Mary E. Power and lived his life in that community. Cold Water, S.C was the community that developed on William Taylor, Sr.'s land grant in Craven (Laurens), S.C. The Words bought the estate from Jannet Taylor's estate and over the years it became Cold Water, S.C. There used to be a large brick building back in the woods that was a store and post office.
Whitner Richard was the 1st Scotch-Irish in this Laurens line to marry a German, Mary Ann Brunner. Their children:

S. Othella - 19 DEC 1844
Samuel H. - 5 JAN 1847
William - 1847
Clark Berry II - 2 DEC 1848
Luda (Ludie) S. - 10 MAR 1851
Mary Ellen - 1854
Nancy Emma - 1857
Robert Whitner - 9 JUL 1859

Family tradition says that Whitner Richard was a tall, redheaded man.
The War of Northern Aggression must have taken a toll on the Taylors because Whitner Richard's father, Samuel, Taylor, Jr. died in 1868 and Whitner died the next year, 1869.
WhitnerRichard and Mary are buried beside his father and mother under the magnolia treeto the left in fieldstone marked graves in Rocky Springs Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
