Notizen zu dieser Person

"Betty" Piquette met Michael Potthast while she worked a cake booth at St. Bernardine's Church picnic in 1936. As Michael told the story, he saw Betty behind the booth and pointed her out to a friend saying, "See that girl. I'm going to marry her." His friend asked who she was and he admitted he didn't know her yet but he quickly found a mutual friend and had himself introduced. In those days you didn't just "pick up" a nice girl. The rest, you might say, is history. Betty always had a talent for decorating, painting, crafting, and generally creating and even re-creating things for her home. Each room and each house was a challenge she met with undisguised enjoyment. Born at a later date she may well have been a professional interior decorator. Some years after her husband died, Betty bought a smaller home in Arnold, MD, some three or four miles from Severna Park, where she lived for a number of years before buying a home in Catonsville, returning to the general vicinity of her early life. She lived there in the downstairs rooms while her son, Mike (aka Robert Anson), and his wife, Desiree lived in the upstairs apartment. In 1999 Mike and Desiree moved to a new condominiun. Betty sold her home and moved to Charlestown, a retirement home in the Catonsville/Arbutus area, where she lived until her death in 2004. Her birth date and death date are confirmed by the memorial card distributed at her wake.
