Elkhart Truth October 23, 1935 Elmer M. Boyer, 69, a resident of Elkhart and vicinity since he came here at the age of 10 years, died at his home, 410 Lincoln street, Elkhart, Ind., at 6:30 this morning, in a heart attack whose disturbing symptoms had awakened him at 4 a. m. He passed away in a chair, after he had dressed and Mrs. Boyer had administered home remedies and had called a physician, who arrived after life was extinct. The son of Henry and Margaret (Miller) Boyer, he was born Oct. 1, 1866, near Lewisburg, Pa., and accompanied them to Elkhart in 1876. Soon afterward, the family moved to a farm a corner of which is now known as Allenton. His second marriage to Addie Niece of north of Bristol, took place May 14, 1903. For six years prior to 12 years ago they lived at Bristol. In Elkhart, Mr. Boyer was an employee of the Buescher band instrument factory for nine years, and later was with the Adams Westlake company. He was a member of the Elkhart Gospel tabernacle. Surviving beside Mrs. Boyer are the following children: Mrs. Earl (Jennie) Brandon, Mrs. Earle (Elsie) Barnum and Wilbur Boyer, all of Elkhart, and Mrs. Harold (Georgia) Westphal of Marcellus, Mich.,; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Harry Eggleston of Elkhart; 19 grandchildren; a brother, Palmer A. Boyer of Union, Mich., and two sisters, Mrs. William (Sallie Bell) Shinn of Cleveland township and Mrs. Charles (Laura Jane) Thornton of Elkhart. The funeral service will be held at the Tabernacle at 2 p. m. Saturday, in charge of the Rev. D. E. Luttrell.
