Thomas S. Nihart, formerly of 301 Division Street, Bristol, Ind., died at 5:15 a.m. Tuesday, August 24, 1993, at Greencroft Nursing Center. He was 98. He was born Oct.11, 1894 in Topeka, Ind..He married Wilma Plank on Feb. 25, 1917 in Elkhart. She died Dec.16, 1966. Surviving are two sons, Donald and Robert, both of Elkhart; two daughters, Lee Dilley of Riverside, R.I. and Mrs. Carl (Mary) Wetzel, of Bristol; six grandchildren, eight great- grandchildren; two brothers, Keith of Elkhart, and Walter of Fla,, and one sister, Ethel Belle Vick of Irving, Texas. Mr. Nihart was a retired yard engineer for the New York Central Railroad. He was a member of the Bristol Methodist Church, the American Legion 143 of Bristol, and the Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend.He was a member of George Washington Lodge 325 F & AM, where he was a past master, member and past patron of Order of Eastern Star in Bristol. He served with the U.S. Army in WWI, and with the Mexican Border Service. Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Bristol chapel, handled the arrangements, where a Masonic memorial service was held. The funeral service was held at the Bristol United Methodist Church, where the Rev. Bill Shannon officiated. Burial is in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Bristol, Ind.
