It appears that William and Elizabeth settled on lands on the Potomac adjacent to those of the Marshall family (ancestors of U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Marshall). You can still see the skeleton of the old brick Marshall house, which looks directly across the Potomac to Mount Vernon, Virginia. Elizabeth's father was apparently very wealthy and left her much land. Issue: 1. Richard Pile, b. Feb. 9, 1725/26 in Prince George's Co., Maryland d. 1780 in Berkeley Co., Virginia (now West Virginia) m. Elizabeth Sprigg (his first cousin) in Prince George's Co., Maryland 2. William Pile, b. April 3, 1729 3. Mary Pile William died at age 31 (just a year after his father), and Elizabeth later married George Parker, who became the children's guardian. Col. Edward Srigg managed their share of Dr. Richard's estate (evidently very badly). At this point both the Pile/Parker family and the Sprigg brood moved up the Potomac to lands around Frederick, Maryland (not far from what is now Camp David. They then surrounded the huge estate of Lord Baltimore). Early plat maps show a "Pile Hall" right on the upper Potomac, but it was inherited by a Sprigg who kept the name in honor of his grandfather, the notorious Dr. Richard Pile.
