Obituary
The Wells Creek community was very deeply saddened when on last Sunday morning, March 21st, a message from Topeka announced the death of Mr. George Holz. Mr George Conrad Ernest Holz the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. William Holz of Wells Creek, Kansas was born in Kaw Township on the 27th day of November, 1895. Saturday morning, March 13th, he took sick with appendicitis. ON Sunday morning, March 14th, he was taken to St. Francis Hospital at Topeka for an operation. although the surgeons pronounced his case as almost hopeless, because the appendix had already become gangrenous, but hoping that he might yet recover, they operated on him. the deceased soon rallied from the effects of the ether and did as well as could be expected until Tuesday evening when a general peritonitis as plastic paralysis of the small intestines developed. Sick unto death and prepared for death, the young man under intense pain nevertheless fought a heroic battle with death. At 3:15 a.m. on Sunday morning, March 21st, he was called home to his reward by his Heavenly Father. The deceased reached the age of 24 years, 3 months and 24 days. His early departure is very deeply mourned by his parents, Mr.and Mrs. William Holz; his three sisters, Mrs. Edward Pageler, Lily and Annie; his four brothers, Walter, Alfred, Carl and Wilmont; as also his two very aged grandmothers, Mrs. Holz and Mrs. Biesterfeld, Sr. the whole Wells Creek community sorrows very profoundly over the death of this young man, who in the prime of his youth succumbed to the universal summon of death. As far as man can judge, the deceased was a true Christian and as such was honest, faithful, brave, warm hearted rue and every ready to serve anyone who was in need. What more can be said of any man? His life, although short in years was not lived in vain. The earthly remains of the deceased were laid to rest in the cemetery of the Evangelical Immanuel congregation at Wells Creek on Wednesday, March 24th, Rev. F. Weltge officiating. the death of her beloved son very greatly adds to the sorrows of his mother, who only a few weeks ago lost both her father and his sister through the grim reaper of death. May the stricken family, whose second youngest son has also been at death's door for many weeks and who at this writing is only very slowly recovering from his ailment, be comforted with the truth that life is immortal and some day they shall meet again in Heaven where love ties shall
