(ALBERTINA RICH) Mrs. August Sackschewsky Sr. Formerly Albertina Rich, died at her home in Thayer on June 21st (1934) and her funeral took place fromZion Lutheran church in Thayer on Sunday, June 24th. The funeral address being given by the Rev. F. Evers, pastor of the church. Mrs. Sackschewsky came to York county with her father's family in 1872. She was born in Deutschland in 1859. She met her husband, the late August Sackschewsky, in the new county of York and when they were married he took her to live on the land which he homesteaded in 1872. the Rich farm was in the vicinity of Lushton and when the young Mr. Sackschewsky went to claim his bride he walked from his farm north of Thayer, a distance of 23 miles, on his wedding morning. Thirteen children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Sackschewsky. The simple home in which they set up house keeping was replaced by one of frame which was later enlarged to meet the needs of a growing family. Her busy life as wife and mother left mrs. Sackschewsky little time, but she was always helpful in neighborly activities and ready to extend assistance in time of need. Her memory will be cherished as that of a kindly Christian woman. Seven sons and two daughters are bereaved in the passing of Mrs. Sackschewsky. Ludwig, Otto, Arthur, William and Herbert are residents of the Thayer neighborhood. August J. lives at Martland and Leo at Hebron. the daughters are Mrs. Henrietta Pubanz of Carleton and Mrs. Noedding (Noding) of Westbrook, Minnesota.
