History of Macon County, Missouri, Page 1114, Mr. Aaron Teter Mr. Teter, a well to do farmer, is of old and illustrious stock andcan look back with pride to a long line of men sans peur et sane toproache and women virtuous and beautiful as only sangre azul can makethem. He preserves as priceless treasures a saucer of rare china thathas been handed down through several generations, and a cup, saucerand plate bequeathed to his wife by her ancestors. Mr. Teter'sforefathers belonged to the old German aristocracy, than whome noproder grandees ever graced a court. The family came to America whenthe county was first discovered, and Mr. Teter's father was born inPendleton County, Va., in 1790. He was 47 when he came to Missouriand settled the farm upon which his son now lives. His wife, AmeliaGraham, was also a Virginian. Aaron Teter was born November 11, 1829,in Randolph County, W.Va. He was about eight years of age when hecame to Missouri, and was educated partly in the latter State, partlyin Virginia. He lived always on a farm and was by every tie of earlyassociation wedded to the life. Naturally he chose it as his field ofoperations. He now owns 280 acres of land, all fenced, 100 in timberand the rest in grass, and under all lies a rich vein of coal. Hisfarm is beautifully improved, and he has two acres in apple and peachorchard. During the war Mr. Teter served the Federal army, Co. K,Forty-second Missouri volunteers under Col. Forbes. He was in theDepartment of the East in 1864-65 and was in Tennessee, Kentucky andAlabama. Mr. Teter was township collector and schoold director underthe township organization. In 1854 he married Miss Emeline Grimes,daughter of Henry Grimes and Elizabeth Clark, his wife, of Randolphcounty, Sugar Creek township. Mrs. Teter was born in Virginia, ofwhich State her parents were natives, but was brought to Missouri whenan infant. Her father and mother settled in Moberly and lived thereuntil their demise. Mr. and Mrs. Teter have two children: WillardHall now farming at Moberly on his grandfather's old farm, and Cora,who is now the wife of Dr. B.E. Moody, who was educated at home. Onechild is lying in 'the quiet earth's breast, her soul at home withGod.' Mr. Teter and his wife are members of the CumberlandPresbyterian Church, and he belongs to the A.F. and A.M. and G.A.R.He has several times been chosen a delegate to the grand lodge. Macon County Missouri Obituaries, 1904-1920, compiled by PhillisMears, Page 56 Aaron Teter, 77, died in March 1906 at his home in College Moundcommunity. He was born in Randolph county, W. Va. in 1829. He movedto Macon county in 1837 and 8 June 1864 was married to Miss Mills. Tothis union were born three children, Eva Teter deceased, Mrs. B. E.Moody and Willard H. Teter of Rocky Ford, Colorado. He was a memberof the Cumberland Presbyterian church being the last charter member ofthe church in College Mound. Interment in the family burying groundwith Mason's in charge.
