Was manage r of thePierpont Telephone Company and wife Minnie was chief operator. Healso organised an d directed the Pierpont City Band for 25 years, wasa community Sunday school superintendent , chorister, church deacon,member of the Woodmen, Royal Neighbors, and Eastern Star. He als ooperated the first bowling alley in Pierpont. John's first love was music and as a hobby John conducted the PierpontClarion Band from th e late 1800's till his death in 1927. John was a Representative to the South Dakota State Legislature in theearly 1900's. He als o was an early deacon and instrumental inorganizing the Pierpont Baptist Church and Masoni c Lodge.
