Obituary Published in the McCook Daily Gazette Pauline Phillips Tuesday, February 17, 2009 McCook Daily Gazette Jan. 12, 1921 - Feb. 14, 2009 CAMBRIDGE-- Pauline Phillips, 88, died Saturday (Feb. 14, 2009) at herhome in Cambridge. She was born near Bartley on Jan. 12, 1921, to Otis E. and Irene(Mayo) Teter. She graduated from Bartley High School in 1938. Afterhigh school she taught country school for several years. She was apolio survivor. She contracted polio at the age of nine and worebraces for more than 17 years. On July 16, 1941, she married Walter Phillips, he preceded her indeath on May 17, 2003. The couple lived in the Cambridge area andlater they moved to Superior. They later moved to Dallas, Texas in1956. During this time they ran a women's ready to wear dress shop.She also worked for the Texas highway department. After retirementthey moved back to Cambridge in 1993. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, the AmericanLegion Auxiliary, and the Eastern Star Lodge. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Walter. Survivors include her daughter, Margaret and husband, Phil Chesley ofCambridge; son, Steven and wife, Carol of Hastings, Minn.: brothers,John of Holdrege and Don of Dallas, Texas; sister, Elma Phillips ofLongmont, Colo.; four grandchildren; one step-grandchild; eight greatgrandchildren; Funeral services will be Thursday, 10 a.m., at Trinity UnitedMethodist Church in Cambridge with the Rev. David Rowe officiating. AnEastern Star Committal will be performed. Interment will be in theBartley Cemetery. Memorials may be left in her name at Lockenour-Jones Mortuary inCambridge. Lockenour-Jones Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
