[FWOlpe peter.FTW] The dates and family history between 1482 and 1706are lost as a resu lt of the 30 year war betweeen1618 -1648 and WW 2,1939-1945 when recor ds were destroyed. There is a record in the SwissStates Archives that a Johannes Bergmann V on Olpe at Basel,Switzerland, was a Catholic pastor and the right ha nd of the Bishopfrom Basel and Strassbourg a well known notary and print er whoemployed assistants. Olpe came from Olpe near Altenberg, near Cologne. He was a famous printer and became well known by the printing ofthe f amous "Narrenschiff" by Sebastian Brant. With the coming of theReformati on by Dr. Martin Luther, Olpe left Basel and returned toGermany whe re he became a Evangelical Reform Pastor.
