Notizen zu dieser Person

"The Haupts From Heide and Hohenheide" "Genealogy: The Heide Haupts came from the Harz Mountain region, where the progenitor Andreas Haupt .......... of the town of Dardesheim had an estate. One of his descendents, master shoemaker Christopher Haupt, son of Heinr. Haupt in Dardesheim, came to Heide during the Napoleanic War, and he had a long string of descendents. He eventually lived at a small estate at Hohenheide, where he died in 1859. His son Johann. Conr. was a merchant in the town of Braaken; he emigrated later to America. Of his sons, only the butcher Claus Haupt (ed. not e: possibly Johann Nicolaus) remained in Heide. He moved later to the town of Wohrden. The descendents of this Wohrdener branch lived on in Altona, Itzehoe, and Kiel (merchant), as well as in Travemünde (technician), Berlin-Friedenau (clerk in a publishing company), and München. Another son of Chr. Haupt in Hohenheide, master shoemaker (Johann) Christian Haupt, went to (Australia, see note below) in 1870 with a great number of children where the trace of the branch has been lost. The Haupts in Braaken and brothers Fritz and Peter with their descendents went to America and live on in the State of Iowa. The present Haupts of Heide are descended from the youngest son, Jacob Haupt, who first lived in Hohenheide, then came to the towns of Braaken, Norderwurth, Lohe, and finally to Aukrug (near Suderheistedt). From his sons descended the branches at Munster-Gorlitz (art master Arth. Haupt), Schlichting-Heide (corn merchant), and Suderham, Heide-Mehlbeck (carpenter ), Naumburg (surveyor-inspector) Rich. Haupt), and Aukrug (extinct). The Heide-Haupt (Rud. Haupt) had many children who live on in Heide, Kiel, etc. Their occupations are merchants, government officer, craftsman, clerk, and railway man. It ought to be remarked that a great talent in drawings occurs in that family. It is only a small part of the family that lives on in the Dithmarschen. Approximately 50 families belong to this clan at this time." .......................................................................... .......................................................................... ..................... "The above is a translation of mine of an article in "Wappenbuch der neuen Dithmarscher Geschlechter" by Harald Thomssen. Heide is a principal city in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Hohenheide and Braaken are towns 1 or 2 miles south of Heide. The Dithmarschen is an extensive lowland area around Heide. Halberstadt is a city, and Dardesheim a small town in what was recently East Germany, not far from the former border with West Germany. . At the time of the Napoleanic Wars, Holstein was controlled by Denmark and therefore was a neutral territory. The statement about Christian Haupt going to America* (my mark) is incorrect. It should be Australia. Do not pay too much attention to the details of my translation. For example, my word "estate" does not necessarily mean anything more than a piece of property." Richard Lorenz, Oliver Springs, TN, June 8, 2003 Summary of the brothers. Peter lived in Davenport, Iowa, the entire time in this country as far as I can tell. A Friedrich lived in Benton County, IA (Cedar Rapids area). Conrad lived in Coal Valley, Illinois. Jacob stayed in Germany. Your Haupt went to Australia. There may be one that I am missing.
