George (Georg) Jacob Keller, son of Johan Georg and Margaretha JaegerKeller was born in Wiengarten, Germany. He came to America with his family in April 1848 when not quite two years old. When his family movedto Ohio, they found a Berman Methodist church just two miles from their home where Georg attended Sunday school. In 1856, when the family moved to Keokuk COunty, Iowa, they again found a Methodist church wherethey attended services. Georg Jacob felt that he should preach the Gospel, but his limited education and timidity seemed to be insurmountable hindrances. His courage and determination won out, however, and in1866 he entered Central Weslyan College at Warrenton, Missouri.
In 1868 he was asssigned to a church in Hebron, Iowa. In 1869, he wassent to Lancaster, Missouri and in 1871 he was sent to Springfield, Missouri to preach. It was about this time that Georg married Isabella Magdelena Beinhart, daughter of David and Louisa Fredericka Giess Beinhart. Georg served in a number of locations during his career: Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska and others, moving every year or two with his family. He experienced some health problems later in life and eventuallysettled in Lincoln, Nebraska. Georg authored a book in 1877 titled "Salvation in Christ" written entirely in German.
