Vienna "Vi" (Imel) Krull Johnson, 90, of Kearney died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Vi was born Jan. 20, 1921, in Holdrege to Clayton and Anna (Olson) Imel.

On July 21, 1940, she married Kenneth Krull in Omaha. He died Jan. 31,1973. On Nov. 9, 1991, she married Sydney Johnson.

Survivors are: husband Sydney Johnson; sons, Ron Krull and his wife, Judy, of Huxley, Iowa, and Gary Krull and his wife, Margaret, of Williamsburg, Va.; stepson, Herb Johnson and his wife, Linda, of Kearney; stepdaughters, Judy Hall of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Nancy VanHorn of Lincoln; brother, Lyle Imel and his wife, Marilyn, of Kearney; threegrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; and10 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Vi was raised in Kearney and graduated from Kearney High School in 1938. She was active in the honor society and in vocal and instrumental music. After she married Kenneth Krull, they lived in San Diego, Omaha,and Missouri Valley, Iowa, where they raised their two sons, Gary Lynn and Ronald Dean.

Vi was active in her church throughout her life and took great pleasure and pride in her work with Sunday school, vacation Bible school, youth groups, holding several offices, participating in ladies' circles,and singing in the choir and took special pride in creating a young adult Bible class.

After Ken died, Vi moved back to Kearney to care for her mother and beclose to family. A lifelong homemaker, she met the challenge of suddenly being single with great courage. She was proud of completing course work at Central Technical Community College. She worked at the Nebraska Beef Board and at the Meadowlark Gift Shop on Central Avenue for 10 years. She was particularly proud of being nominated for and winningthe Chamber of Commerce Kearney Employee of the Month Award in June 1984.

Vi inspired many in her life as a humble, faithful servant to her Godevery day and will be remembered by everyone who knew her for her gentle, giving spirit.

In addition to her first husband, she was preceded by a son in infancy, two brothers and one sister.

Interment was at Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege, NE.
