Helen Irene (Dishman) McAfee passed from this life on Wednesday, June19, 2013 at the age of 84 years old surrounded by her loving family atthe home of her daughter.
She was born in Petersburg, Nebraska on June 27, 1928 to Archie and Elva (Krull) Dishman. Helen graduated from Savannah High School and after graduation she started working at Phillips Roxanne which later became Anchor Laboratories and is currently Boehringer-Ingelheim Vet Medica. Helen was employed with this company for 39 ½ years as a bookkeeper.She was a member of St. John's Church in Amazonia, Missouri where shemarried her husband, Leonard (Gene) McAfee on April 11, 1953 and theyenjoyed 60 years of marriage. He survives her of the home and was a wonderful caregiver over the past 3 years of her life.
Helen is survived by her husband, Leonard; daughter, Lynne Gentry andher husband Jerry Gentry, their children and her grandchildren that she loved dearly, Jerad Gentry and his wife Jonnelle of Smithville, Missouri, Jacob Gentry, Sophia Gentry and Jameson Gentry, St. Joseph, Missouri, her brother in law and his wife Lawrence and Bernardine McAfee,and numerous nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents and siblings. Brothers' -Quintin Dishman and his wife Norma, Jerry Dishman & Lavern Dishman and his wife Evelyn (Dickie) and 2 sisters Dorothy Smith and husband (Leo)and Virginia Hubbard and husband (Bob). Helen was also preceded in death by her husband's parents - John and Sophia (Polaski) McAfee and onegrandson, Joshua Thomas Gentry.
Services will be held at Breit & Hawkins Funeral Home in Savannah, Missouri with family visitation from 2-4 pm on Sunday, June 23rd. Her Celebration of Life service will be held there as well, Monday, June 24that 2 pm at the funeral home with graveside burial service to follow at St. John's Cemetery in Amazonia, Missouri on T Highway.
