[Margaretha SPRUEGEL.ftw] Arrived in Philadelphia, Penn. on 30 Sept 1732 on the ship "DRAGON"withhis wife and children, from Ilshofen in Wuerttemberg . Received first warrant for land in the Oley Hills of Berks County, Penna. in 1738. Charles Hargrave was the Master on the ship "DRAGON". The familyfinally settled near the Ziegel Church in Weisenberg Township, it isbelievedthat they died and are buried on the old Cemetery there. In this old ZiegelChurch Cemetery very few tombstones remain so that most of the graves arenolonger marked or can be found. A tract of land or warrent to George Leibesberger dated April 28,1767,when surveyed, showed 52 acres, 103 perches and was patented to him May27,1767. Section (Young Orchard) Recorded inpatent book AA - Volume 8, page350.[Perch: any of various units of measure for stonework.] Another tract of 20acreson warrent to George Leipesberger, April 2, 1757, when surveyed, returned34 acres, 60 perches and the patent was issued to Jacob Grim, no nameisgiven for this tract. On the warrents that were issued to "George" in1745,48-57-67, surveys were duly recorded and a total of 243 acres returned onthesesurveys. it appears that these lands were all situated in "WeisenbergTownship"and adjoined, or became a part of the first tract, however no patents(deeds)were granted on any of them until May and November 1767 and that hissonGeorge Adam (who seldom used his middle name) received these patents.
