SOUTH SIDE STOCKMAN TAKES CARBOLIC ACID DIES IN FEW HOURS
Suffering a derangement of mind for several years, Charles F. Binder, aged 53 years, sausage maker at the local Armour & Co. plant, swallowed a small bottle of carbolic acid Monday afternoon sometime between 2 & 6 o'clock with Drs. Koenig and Chalupka attending.
Binder had been suffering for years from an illness of the mind and returning from the packing house at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon sought his bedroom at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Albert Siegle, 5837 South Twenty-Second street. A few minutes later his little granddaughter entered the room to find Binder lying unconscious on the bed. Doctors were called, but the man's life had already been too far gone. Death came at 6 o'clock. A small empty bottle of carbonic acid was found on the floor of the bedroom.
Coroner Willis Crosby has the body in charge and the funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Brewer Chapel at Twenty-fourth and M Streets to the Graceland Park Cemetery. Rev. S.H. Yerian of St Luke's Lutheran church will officiate. Binder was a pioneer of the South side, having lived in the city more than seventeen years.
