He went to church at Daniels MeetingHouse until he was eleven, then they started going to New Daniels. Hewas baptized at New Daniels at the age of 15 and served the Lord and thechurch at several places. It is said that he made many devotional talks,he served as cleark pro tem a number of times, and he was thesuperintendent of Sundy School when he died in 1916. Joshua was calledto preach and did preach at other churches, including Farris BaptistChurch. He and his cousin were called to missions in China, but hisearly death intervened; his cousin was educated but did not go. Joshuadied with typhoid fever complicated by pneumonia on February 17, 1916.He was loved and missed by his younger brothers and sisters. He left anempty place, one Sundy suit, one pair of Sundy shoes, his Bible, and asmall composition book. Joshua was twenty one years, six months, andthree days old when he died.
