The 4th (also known as Rutledge's)Regiment SC Calvery was formed by the consolidation if the 10th and 12thBattalions SC Calvery and Pinckney's and Rutledge's IndependentCompanies, SC Calvery, by S. O. No. 254, Hdgrs. Dept. SC, GA and Fla,dated December 16, 1862. W. H. McLesky enlisted May 6, 1862 in Pickens by J. G.(C) Calhoun.Present as Corporal on company muster roll Nov. and Dec. 1862. In Marchand April 1862 Pvt. McLeskey listed as having enlisted May 6, 1862 atGrahamville by J. G. Calhoun. He is listed as absentat Charleston workingon fortifcations sience Feb. 1863 by sentence of court martial. May andJune 1863 listed as absent on Sullivans Island at work on fortificationsfor 12 months by sentence of Genl Court Martial since 5 Feb 1863Dis(descriptive) Roll forward to Provost Martial Charleston. On same rollJuly-Dec 1863. Listed as having been enlisted by T. D. Bellott on Oct.1863 musterroll. Jan and Feb 1864 listed as present but "No horse". Onmusterroll Feb 29 - Aug 31, 1864.
