Phineas Stephens was born December 30, 1705 in Connecticutt and was oneof the first Stephens to migrate to North Carolina. The earliest daterecorded of Phineas Stephens is in Onslow County, North Carolina. It isbelieved that Benjamin, Andrew, and Phineas Stephens, brothers, leftConnecticutt in the early 1700's and migrated to Onslow County, NorthCarolina. The records of Canaan, Connecticutt reveal that Benjamin was"admitted" as a resident in 1743. This would indicate that he had leftand returned. Andrew Stephens gave Power of Attorney to John Huggins in1734 in Onslow County, North Carolina. The transaction was recognized by Benjamin. More evidence of theirpresence in North Carolina in 1734. Elizabeth Eason, wife of Benjamin wasborn in North Carolina. The Patent Book 5, of North Carolina June 17, 1736. Phenease Stephens--400 acres in Onslow County on Bear Sound, joiningLee's corner, the Sound side and a Gut coming out of Greens (Queens)Creek opposite to Hanton's.
