Stephan and his brother Barney purchased 266 acres and developed them into the Hemchorn Farm located along the Mt. Angel - Gervais Road. The Pavelek's moved from Texas to Briadacres and purchased 5 acres near what is known as the Senior Estates in Wooburn, Oregon. The two families were then doubly united by the marriages of Frank Pavelek to Eugenia Hemshorn and Werner Hemshorn to Rosina Pavelek. Later, the Hemshorn family was again doubly united with the McKayfamily, from St. Paul, Oregon, when Hugo Hemshorn married Agnes McKay and Francis McKay married Velma Hemshorn. The remaining living brother Arthur Hemshorn married Margaret Krauss and they still reside in Mt. Angel.
