Vernon was born to Harris and Clara (Pollak) Eymann on November 17, 1936 at Kenmare, North Dakota. He lived in Kenaston and attended the Kenaston School until his family moved into Kenmare. He attended the Kenmare Public School for 6th grade, and then St. Agnes Academy until his graduation in 1955.

He married Rosina Roehrich at St. Anthony's in Linton on June 11, 1956. He worked for International Harvester from 1956 to 1964 at which time he went to work for Earl Schwartz Co. His hobbies included leather craft, archery, woodworking, gardening, attending toy shows, and adding to his extensive collection of farm toys to fill his museum. He constructed a large train set and was especially talented at building 1/16 scale tractors from scratch, some of which he sold to other collectors. He enjoyed showing his tractors/implements at various Toy Shows in ND and usually had a grandchild or two with him to display their farm scene. He and Rose traveled to the National Toy Show in Dyersville, IA numerous times where he would always find one more toy to add to his collection. He also enjoyed taking short trips on his Harley. A more recent hobby of Vern's was restoring old John Deere and IH tractors which he showed at the Pioneer Village.
