Caroline Catherine “Carrie” Hennekens Raymond BIRTH 6 Mar 1864 Germany DEATH 26 May 1945 (aged 81) BURIAL Cornell Cemetery Cornell, Chippewa County, Wisconsin, USA MEMORIAL ID 76170556 Carrie Hennekens was the daughter of John Hennekens and Sophia Vegel (Vogel). She married John Arts on Dec. 18, 1882 in Sevastopol, Door County, Wisconsin. They had 5 children: Louis Ferdinand Arts, Louise Caroline Arts, Wilber Friede Arts, George Arthur Arts and Katherine Sophia Arts. John Arts was killed in a hunting accident on October 30, 1899. He is buried in an unmarked grave in Chippewa County, Wisconsin. On Sept. 3, 1901, Caroline Hennekens Arts married Alvin E. Raymond. They had one child: August William Raymond. Obituary: Mrs. Carrie Raymond, a well known and highly respected resident of Chippewa County for over 60 years, passed away at 6:55 o' clock Sunday morning at Luther Hospital, Eau Claire where she had been receiving treatment for the past week. Mrs. Raymond was born March 6, 1864 in Esten (Essern, Hanover), Germany and she came to the United States in 1881 settling in Grafton Wis, where she was married to John Arts in 1883. Immediately after their marriage they came to Chippewa County and settled near Holcombe where she has since made her home. Five children were born to them, Louie Arts, Troutsdale, Oregon--- Mrs Louise Severson, Milwaukee--Wilbur Arts, Racine--George Arts of Holcombe and Mrs. Rene Klawitter of Eau Claire. In the fall of 1899 her husband was shot and killed while hunting deer. In 1901 she was married to Alvin Raymond of Eau Claire and to them one son was born A.W. Raymond of Eau Claire. Besides the above survivors Mrs Raymond has 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, one sister Mrs. Eliza Plagge of Holcombe and two brothers, Fred and August Hennekens of Holcombe. The remains will lie in state at the LaFrania Funeral Home until 10 O'clock Tuesday morning when they will be taken to the Church at Birch Creek where they will lie until the hour of the funeral Wednesday afternoon at one o'clock.
