John Richard Wells Taken from the April 15, 1965 issue of the Owen Leader: John Blaine Wells died at his home, R.R. 2, Coal City, at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, April 13. He was born in Jefferson Township, Owen County, Indiana, October 4, 1884, the son of Hiram J. Wells and Susanna Smith Wells. Mr. Wells was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Bethsaida Church of Christ. Funeral services will be tomorrow, Friday, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Worthington with Odell Kirby officiating. Interment will be in the Fiscus Cemetery. Friends may call at the Myers Funeral Home in Worthington until the time of the funeral. Survivors are his widow, Mildred Wells; three sons, Oral Wells of Sidney, Ohio, Paul E. Wells of Worthington, Richard Wells of Coal City, and two daughters, Mrs. Mabel Miller of Worthington and Mrs. Irene Mizer of Coal City. Taken from the April 15, 1965 issue of the Evening World: John Blaine Wells, 80, east of Coal City, died Tuesday morning, at his home after an illness of 15 years, and being bedfast for the past five years. He was born in Owen County on October 4, 1884, and was a son of Hiram and Susanna Smith Wells. Mr. Wells was a member of the Church of Christ at Bethsaida. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Mildred Schmidt Wells; tow daughters, Mrs. Mable Miller of Worthington, and Mrs. Irene Mizer, of Coal City; three sons, Oral Wells of Sidney, Ohio, Paul Edward Wells of Worthington, and Richard Wells of Coal City; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Myers Funeral Home in Worthington, Friday at 10:30 a.m. with Brother Odell Kirby of Coal City officiating and burial will be in the Fiscus Cemetery east of Coal City.
