Carl Herman Joseph Antholz, son of Herman and Eva (Reeh) Antholz, was born Feb. 20, 1927 in Kansas City, Missouri. Carl died on May 6, 1992 inBird City at the age of 65.
He was united in marriage to Rita Pianalto on April 15, 1952 at SacredHeart Church in Atwood. They shared over 40 years of marriage togetherand lived all their married life on the family farm near McDonald. To this union were born 12 children. Carl was in farming for over 40 yearsand enjoyed gardening and working with his hands.
He was actively involved in church and community activities. Carl was acharter member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #6665, and a memberof the Atwood Knights of Columbus Council #3033. He served as a 3rd and 4th Degree member, as well as Past Faithful Navigator, District Deputy and Past Grand Knight. He also served on the Diocesian School Board,and was a member of the Secular Francisans Order. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bird City where he served as Lector andEucharistic Minister. But he will be most noticeably missed in his role of church organist which he filled for over 50 years. He enjoyed being involved in the McDonald Lions Club and was a member of the GoodlandBPOE Elks Lodge #1558. Carl enjoyed children and spread his love and laughter driving the school bus for Cheylin School District.
Funeral services were held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bird City on May 9, 1992. Williams Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. ConCelebrants of the Mass were Fr. Albert Dwyer, Fr. Henry Kieffer, Fr. Martin Kieffer, Msgr. Armand Girard and Fr. Joseph Scheetz. Burial was in Grace Cemetery in McDonald.
Carl is survived by his wife, Rita of McDonald; children and grandchildren; Herman, Babs, Shane, Travis and Kelly Antholz of McDonald; Cecilia, John, Aaron, Johnnie and Lacee Cooper of Colby; Kathy, Curt, Bryan and David Russell of Goodland; Mike, Margyre and Bridgette Antholz of St.Francis; Sylvia, Dave, Stacy, Dusty, Sara and Stephanie Hubbard of McDonald; Ann, Duane, Dane and Torre Parcel of Meade; Eric, Melody, Webb and Cass Antholz of Riverton, Nebraska; Barbara, Rod, Robbie and BrennaMurphy of Ness City; Mary Antholz of Marysville; Lisa and fiance Mark Mertens of Sterling, Colorado; Joan and Brian Schroeder of Kansas City,Missouri; and many friends and relatives.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Eva Antholz, andone daughter, Susan Clare.
By request of the family, Memorials are to be given to the McDonald Ambulance Fund and may be left at Peopels State Bank in McDonald.
