Notizen zu dieser Person
"Ed was a passenger train conductor on the Missouri Pacific with hisheadquarters in Texarkana. He held positions of trust in the Order ofRailway conductors of America representing the local union in theirconventions and in parleys with railroad officials.
He was well grounded in the theoretical aspects of labor problems asrelated to transportation and could discuss them ably. I was mostimpressed with his pleasing personality and courtly manners. He was asoft spoken, highly intelligent and a flashingly witty conversationalist, and had a remarkable capacity for considering both positive and negativeevidence on controversial issues before reaching even a tentativejudgment. Although his formal education stopped at the grade schoollevel, he thought and spoke like one familiar with the rules of logicdemanded of a student engaged in scholarly discourses. In every visit Ihad with Ed I would carry away highly prized bits of wisdom and soberthinking.
Ed was living in retirement when death came to him December 17,1946."
