BIOGRAPHIE: The village of Trohatin has one Land register, covering the years 1770 - 1870. The books weight was about 20 pounds and the dimensions 15" x 12" x 7". Xerocopies were impossible to be made. Photocopies may be made at 2 USD per page and we would need to have at least 20 pages copied , referring to Kiefners house. Moreover the script was nearly illegible, so I was able to make only some notices and can not provide you with a total overview. Plse advise me, if you want these pages copied and if you want to pay extra for them.
Note:
The owner prior to 1783 was Josef Kiefner. In that year he sold his holdings with 9 strichs of fields, 2 wagons of hay and 3/4 wagon of secon-grass to his son Johann Georg Kiefner at 300 guldens. 150 guldens 3 1/2 Kreuzer were paid to the father in advance. The remaining liablilties were as follows: 111 guldens 22 1/2 kr. to the seller (paid in 1790) 5 30/60 guldens to Margaretha Bauerin (paid 1805) 3 guldens to Elisabetha Kiefnerin, the elder, (1802) 3 guldens to Elisabetha Kiefterin, the younger (1797) 5 27/60 guldens to Georg Rothmayer in Natschetin (1808) 3 guldens to Ursula Wagnerin in Wassertrompeten (Ostromec) (1802)
Note:
I would say, that Margaretha and older Elisabetha were fathers sisters, whereas younger Elisabetha and Ursula were buyers sisters. Rothmayer was probably uncle.
Note:
In 1818 the farmstead was sold to the son Peter Kuefner, Johann Georgs son. The buyer received a pair of oxen, 1 cow, and all house and agricultural equipment, alltogether at the price of 800 guldens in "Wiener Waehrung", i.e. 320 guldens in silver (Conv. Waehrung). The financial liabilities of the buyer were:
Note:
corn to the contribution funds 13 Mass 15 8/16 viertels rye, 7 Mass 14/16 barley. 7 guldens 37 1/3 Kr. to Josef Kueffner 7 guldens 37 1/3 to Katharina Prokosch in Hosslau 7 guldens 37 1/3 to Katharina Prokosch in Wasserau 10 guldens 50/60 to Katharina, dau. after Elisabeth Prokosch in Witana 10 guldens 50/60 to Anna, dau. after Elisabeth Prokosch in Mardin (? 10 guldens 50/60 to Katharina (?), dau. after Elisabeth Prokosch in Trohatin to the village treasury of the orpansfunds 100 guldens at request to the buyers siser Katharina Kueffner 300 guldens (paid 1821) at request to the seller 346 guldens 37 1/2 Kr. (1829)
Note:
After the fathers death in January 1856, the following owner became Josef Kiefner and his bride Katharina Schubert. Katharina Kiefner died on 8.3.1860 and 1/2 of the farmstead was inherited by her widower Josef Kiefner. The price of one half of the farm was 1623 37/100 guldens Austrian currency (105 guldens Austr. currency = 100 guldens Conv. W.). 540 guldens had to be paid to Peter Kiefner (brother ?) and 567,54 guldens to Maria Kiefnerin (sister).
Note:
In summer 1860 Josef married Rosalia N. (21.6.1860) and on the 22.6.1860 Josef passed her one half of the farm in the value of 630 guldens.
Note:
The next fates of the Kiefners were totally illegible, inspite of the fact, that the hand-script was quite nice looking, but at the detailed view the individual words were totally unrecognizable. I made a copy of several pages by my digital camera - unfortunately only in low resolution. Each page had to be taken in three snaps - such large were the pages.
