TOD: Wabasso Standard Thursday, August 6, 1942 Death Calls Mrs. Anna Goblirsch Succumbed Unexpectedly at Loretto Hospital at New Ulm Tuesday at 4 p.m. Death unexpectedly called the life of Mrs. Anna Goblirsch at 4 p.m. Tuesday this week. She died of diabetes and complications at Loretto Hospital in New Ulm. Funeral services have been arranged for Friday morning at St. Anne's Catholic church here, with the pastor, Rev. Thomas H. Diehl, in charge. The choir will sing the Requiem High Mass and interment will be in St. Anne's Cemetery. She had attained the age of 70 years.
The deceased was born January 29, 1872 at Neumark, Austria, Europe. She was the daughter of Alois and Catherine Muehlbauer. At the age of 12 years she became and orphan on at the death of her parents, and came to the united States to make her home with a brother, Charles Muehlbauer, at New Ulm. She worked at various places until her marriage on November 24, 1891, to John Goblirsch at St. George. Mr. Goblirsch preceded her in death on July 7, 1941.
Following their marriage they settled on a farm in New Avon township from which they retired in 1927 to move to a residence in Wabasso, where they continued to live until their respective deaths. She had suffered with a diabetic condition for the past 14 years. At present she had been ill just over two weeks and it appeared her condition was improving when death suddenly stepped in.
Mrs. Goblirsch was a member of St. Anne¹s church and also of the St. Monica Society and the Christian Mothers Society. She was a charter member of St. Monica and served as president for 22 years.
Eight children, three daughters and five sons, were born to Mr. and Mrs. Goblirsch. One infant daughter died at the age of 10 days. Remaining to mourn their mother's passing are Frank of Wabasso, Henry of Gary, S.D., Mrs. Katie Altermatt of Wabasso, John of Redwood Falls, Miss Mary at home, Charles of Redwood Falls and Louis of Wabasso. She also leaves 29 grandchildren. Serving as pall bearers will be six grandsons, Morris and Leonard Goblirsch, Raymond and Alphonse Goblirsch and Leo and Harold Altermatt.
