TOD: New Ulm Journal Friday, April 12,1946 Adam Goblirsch, 84, Dies After Lingering Illness Adam Goblirsch, 84, died late Thursday afternoon at his home, 1027 North German street, after a long illness. He had been in poor health for the past year and confined to his bed for the past four months.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 9:30 in Holy Trinity church with burial in St. George cemetery. The prayer hour will be Sunday evening at 7:30 at the home.
Born Jan. 15, 1862 in Austria, he was the eldest of a family of nine boys and one girl. He came to America with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Goblirsch, when he was 6 years old.
In November, 1884, he married Mary Kaehs in St. George and they lived on a farm in Lafayette township until 1916, when he retired and came to New Ulm. His wife died in May, 1914.
Long active in affairs of Lafayette township, he served on the town and the school boards there, was a director of the Farmers State bank of Lafayette and also a director of the Lafayette creamery. He also belonged to the St. Joseph society.
Surviving Mr. Goblirsch are four daughters and two sons, the Misses Mary and Agnes Goblirsch of New Ulm, John of Lafayette, Mrs. Anna Fruhwirth of Bernadotte, Mrs. Mathilda Lanahan of Des Moines, Iowa, and Albert Goblirsch of Dunlop, Iowa. There are 21 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He also leaves three brothers and a sister, Charles Goblirsch of Minneapolis, Anton of New Ulm, Andrew of Genola, and Miss Catherine of New Ulm.
