Robert Sandfort writes: Another record from 1655 lists the livestock on the Sandfort farm. An interesting fact this record discloses is that there were by this time two houses in existence on the Sandfort farm, a large main house and a smaller house. Both apparently were combination house and barn, a characteristic of Artland farm houses which persists even today.
About this time, Rattcke Sandfort married and took over the operation of the Sandfort farm.
Robert Sandfort writes: Rattcke Sandfort died in February of 1680, having operated the Sandfort farm for nearly 30 years. His burial, which took place on February 9, 1680, was noted in the Badbergenchurch records. The following June, his widow agreed to the Badbergen official the usual sum of 50 Reichsthaler for Rattcke Sandfort s burial plot.
