Mrs. Nancy Powers Died Following a Long Illness
Mrs. Benjamin Powers, 71, died in the Long Nursing Home in Lebanon Friday, October 19,(1951) after a lingering illness.
The body was taken to Richland for services conducted by Pauline Loveless who was assisted by Virginia Shockley. Burial was under direction of Teeple's Funeral Home.
Nancy Adeline Bartlett, daughter of Nancy Jane Trower and Gordon Bartlett, was born April 2, 1880 in Waynesville.
She was united in marriage January 1, 1900, to Benjamin Powers of Laquey. To them were born three children, Melvin, Irene and Arlene. The family moved to Richland from Waynesville in 1927and had lived there since that time.
Mrs. powers underwent an ermergency operation in January, 1944, and later suffered a paraletic stroke which afected her entire right side. After that time she was able to leave her bed foronly a few hours at a time and later was completely bedfast.
She leaves her husband, Benjamin Powers, her three children, Melvin Powers, Richland; Mrs. Irene Schell of Aurora; Mrs. Arlene Martin of Lebanon. A step-son, J.B. Powers, of Springfield, four sisters and three brothers, also survive. They are: Mrs. Joan Woodin, Waynesville, Mrs. James Cusick, Crocker, Mrs. Maggie Allen, Chetopa, Kans., Mrs. Alice Hammock, Jennings, Okla., William Bartlett, Tracy, Calif., Alfred Bartlett, Hugson, Calif., and Sol Bartlett, of Yale, Okla.
Ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Powers became a member of a Baptist Church in early life and lived a true Christian life.
