Introduction George Peden came to the United States from County Derry, Ireland,sometime between 1812 and 1820. The 1907 book, "History of Cambria County," by H. W. Storey, statesthat, "George Peden was the father of two sons, William and James. James was the first of thefamily to emigrate to the United States, coming here about 1812 and working for many years as a tailor....He [James] had two sons: James, who was a physician, and Horatio who chose the calling of asalesman. George Peden was a weaver." (pp. 604-605) This is the only information I have to date which gives any informationabout the parentage of William Peden, the ancestor from whom the people in this list descend. Thefollowing genealogy is a summary of information collected from descendants of William and MaryAnna Clemens. William Peden and Mary Anna Clemens had nine children: Alexander, James,William, Nancy, John, Henry, Edward, Sarah, and Abel. This project has been a collaboration of effort.
